Term Limits

Term Limits

IMPOSE TERM LIMITS

No state shall prohibit or hinder any citizen from accessing current voter registration lists. Any state that uses electronic voting machines shall use end-to-end encryption on all voting software and systems, and shall have a printed record of each electronic vote.
No Federal elected representative or government official appointed by a representative shall remain in any office longer than twelve years. Civil servants in agency leadership shall be subject to re-appointment by elected officials.

There is wide support for term limits among voters of both major parties. The only parties consistently opposed to term limits are career-elected representatives and special interests that rely on long-standing relationships with them.

Periodic electoral turnover allows for the introduction of fresh perspectives to permeate Congress, and would also eliminate the perverse incentives for wasteful spending that serve as a corrupting influence on career congresspersons.

An increasingly large portion of governing is done, not by the White House or Congress, but by administrative agencies that spit out thousands of (often contradictory) regulations a year. These agencies are led by appointed officials who have not been elected and employ a vast number of agency bureaucrats who were also not elected. These agency leaders must be subject to periodic review to determine whether they should be reappointed or let go.

AS PRESIDENT
  • I will work with congress to amend the constitution to enact term limits on federal offices.
