DEADLY VIOLENCE IS WRONG ANSWER TO HEATED POLITICS

THOUGHTS WITH TRUMP, THOSE KILLED & HURT IN PA SHOOTING

LAS VEGAS – Chase Oliver condemns the shooter who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump during a campaign event on Saturday in Butler County, Pennsylvania. One spectator died, and two others were critically injured in the shooting.

“I fully reject and condemn those who commit violence against others, and I extend my sympathy to President Trump in the wake of a violent attack at his rally in Pennsylvania,” says Oliver, Libertarian candidate for president.

“Political violence has no place in our public discourse. At times like these, it’s not about left vs. right, it’s about right vs. wrong, and violence is wrong,” Oliver says. He was in Las Vegas for FreedomFest when the shooting happened.

The shots came from a roof outside the farm show where a rally was being held on Saturday, July 13, in Butler, Penn. The Secret Service whisked Trump away, who had blood on his face but did not appear hurt. One person attending has died, and two more have critical injuries. The Secret Service reports that it killed the shooter, who was apparently perched on a rooftop some 130 yards away from the former president.

“I want to personally extend my prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones of the individuals who lost their life or were injured in the attack,” Oliver says. “My heart is heavy tonight. I am tired of seeing hatred, division, and dehumanization becoming commonplace in our politics.”

“I will do everything in my power to change the way we engage with one another, and I hope others will join me in this mission.”

Mike ter Maat, Oliver’s running mate, also expressed his disgust with the violence.

“As Libertarians, we condemn the use of force, especially political terrorism against innocent individuals, whether committed by governments or other political groups. We are dedicated to the principle of non-aggression and to peaceful solutions to conflict.”

Oliver calls for Secret Service protection for all candidates, particularly Robert Kennedy Jr. His father, Bobby Kennedy, was assassinated at a campaign rally in 1968, when RFK was 14. President John F. Kennedy – his uncle – also was assassinated. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas previously denied RFK’s request for protection.

The campaign will pause appearances for Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat as a sign of respect to the victims and their families.
