ATLANTA — The Colorado Department of State has confirmed Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat as the Libertarian Party’s nominees for President and Vice President. The ticket was nominated at the Libertarian Party National convention and will appear on the Libertarian ballot line this November.
“I am honored to be the Libertarian Party Nominee on the Colorado ballot,” said Oliver, “I look forward to returning to the state during the campaign to fight for our rights against federal encroachment, to be a voice of reason against the policy of military intervention, and to overcome the partisan and polarization in Washington DC.”
The Libertarian Party of Colorado previously announced plans to nominate Robert F. Kennedy, who was nominated at the Libertarian National Convention in May but only received 19 votes. Kennedy’s campaign prematurely announced that they would be the Libertarian Nominee. Colorado law (C.R.S. 1-4-1001) mandates that only candidates can initiate withdrawal by filing a formal letter. Oliver and ter Maat have no plan to step aside for Kennedy, who has gathered enough signatures to appear on the ballot as an Independent.
“In the absence of a submission of a withdrawal form from either candidate, our office must proceed with placing Mr. Oliver and Mr. ter Maat on the Colorado ballot as the Libertarian Party candidates for President and Vice-President,” said Caleb Thornton, Legal, Policy, and Rulemaking Manager at the Colorado Department of State, “ the candidate paperwork we have received for the Libertarian Party is complete”.
